Errmmm... I know this is a detour from what I usually post here, but it's still my art and I'm gonna post it! xP

This is my rendition of Alex Kapranos (lead singer of Franz Ferdinand). I wanted to reduce him to his most basic features and capture what I see him to be: a stylish, lean, pouty-lipped rockstar who knows he's sexy. ALL of which is a good thing!

He was done with micron .3 ink pen on white smooth bristol. I cut him out with an exacto knife, then went along the newly-cut edges with "prawn" colored Copic marker and let it bleed a little. Then I pasted him upon another piece of bristol I colored in a purposefully uneven manner. It's fun to look at in person.

This piece took a few days to complete. I did 4 rough drafts before I even got to the ink draft. Then I retraced it 3 more times because I kept screwing up. Stupid ink doesn't erase! I also did minor adjustments along the way. I still don't think it is *exactly* what I imagined the whole way (i.e: perfect) - but I consider it done, and decent enough to display publicly.

So if you are unfamiliar with him or the band, take advantage of your curiousity and buy the album. ^_~
